Something 'bout a Mercury

Spring in New England is best noted by the return of motorcycles and sports cars on frosted heaved roads..
Viewed across the parking expanse I assumed this was another t-bucket repro.
The offy proved me wrong. This  was a classic.
Badging stated it reached 123.28 MPH in Oct. 1947 on Bonneville Salt Flats as measured by the Southern California Timing Association.
The owner said that this Mercury reached 130 since he put the new supercharger on it.
The LA Gopher club is said to have been established in 1936, and was associated with SCTA.
This is no pristine museum piece. Flaws and nicks are abundant. Daily drivers are like that, and their owners have more fun than those that keep their vehicles under glass. Every nick and ding a driver puts on a car like this becomes a memory and another badge of honor.
