Smells fisheye.

This lens could spiral into redundancy. The distortions remind me  of my own peripheral vision, which blurs at the edges,   is blind to what should be focused, as it focuses on peripherals.

Putnam in a globe.

I frequently end up in Putnam when I test out new lenses.  Established infrastructure, historic landmarks,  artistic whimsy  and urban decay   are all there. They compliment the construction  and beautification efforts that make it a complete city.

Scenes from   Delaware County, NY  remind   me   of  past  travels.

Big Pond, Little Pond.

A short walk around the grounds of Spillian convinced me a hike on the local trails was necessary.   This was after all the famed Catskills Mountains. So off we went from Big Pond to Little Pond , 200 yards at a time. We trudged on  for 200 more yards.   13 of those segments were steeply inclined to some unseen apex,   13 were a similar decline. While the flora reached its spotlight the fauna could only   be heard scampering away in the leaves. 3 miles and 3 hours later we emerged  feeling grounded, refreshed,   very tired, and  a bit younger.

I will get to that hike. I needed to share this.

The Catskills.

A mere four hour drive is enough these days to cause rejoice when my destination appears through road weary eyes. Especially when that aim is as majestic as Spillian . After a brief tour  we were shown our room . A few moments of peace were granted before the celebrations. We were allowed full access to the kitchen facilities so the visiting chef from Maine could continue our traditional lobster and cob feast. Our stomachs sated, we conversed to catch up and to reminisce.  A short stroll to the meadow set the stage for family and friendships rekindled lasting to evenings end. The misty dawn awoke us gently, slowly; easing us each into the day at our own desired pace. NEXT: A walk in the Catskills.
