Harrisonburg, VA. is difficult for a Harrisburg, PA native to pronounce properly.

We took a trip to historic Harrisonburg . Looked at  some cool buildings . Stopped for a drink   in a bar that was having a High School recital.  I noticed some sheet music   and decided to wait until   Autumn Leaves was played.  It was a good time.

Short story?

So there I am  doing some line studies  when this guy comes along  and says (Click to enlarge) "Moo-ve".

Monticello.

The tour guides say he was brilliant . His record keeping would be considered obsessive control ,  his varied interests attention deficit .  He was one of the United States of America 's greatest statesmen .  Imagine if he had been diagnosed and medicated .

Blackbirds.

I was curious why these two were keeping such close quarters to my balcony this morning. I quickly figured it out while cooking dinner on the balcony's grill.  I'm sad to report it was NOT for the pleasant view.

Followers.

Some things should follow us as we move about.  Good weather,  the moon, and mountain shadows are three. Hopefully the American Redbuds blossoms will follow me home.  They are not nearly as prolific in New England. I'm still confused why this logo followed me to Shenandoah, but I'll still enjoy the view from my room,   I hope you do, too.

He burned, she burned.

Animals are smart enough to know where they are safe.   They can also scold for disturbing their peace. Caledonia State Park  celebrates a town that had a thriving iron works until the Confederate Forces burned it down. We stopped at the Blue Wing Frog today for lunch.  My wife got to sit at the big kid table. The Death By Pork sandwich was amazing.  We got the quarter tour for a nickel and some pictures with the owner. I hope to visit this place more as he  expands.   Luray Caverns is as impressive as I had hoped. The surrounding towns were burned down by the Union Army. Fun traveling the Mason Dixon Line. They have a surprising auto museum at the caves, also. The view is always beautiful.

Spring.

Image
I could be convinced to prefer spring over the other seasons. Water runs faster and deeper. The birds fly a bit faster.  This hawk was out of sight before I could focus. I noticed the turkey buzzards were not soaring currents as normal, but seemed to be hurriedly dashing to and fro searching.  And the sun brightened bark created deep shadows, both contrasting with the seeming translucence of emerging leaves and buds.  Ten more degrees and I would be convinced. I am enjoying it now however.
