P&W Railroad Crossing.

 This is happening up the road.
 Talking to one of the workers I learned that this crossing  is built on a huge ditch filled with gravel.
Two infrared sensors are used to locate track position
 and this machine plunges into the gravel, tamping it down while other components correct the tracks position.
 Though computer controlled, it often needs correcting by the men tending the machine.
With the track in the proper position  gravel is added,
and spread like smooth like soft butter.  
While I know it is not the purpose I am hoping 
 my house will shake a little less 
when trains rumble through this crossing.
