Lunch and a hike.
I have no intention of making this a food blog, but finding places to eat is a large part of traveling.
Today we found The Main Street Station where I had eggs benedict - unusual diner fare. The hand cut onion rings surpassed my high standards with ease.
It is a refreshing take on diners with an emphasis on early 20th century decor and music.
Though it is expanded from the original diner car the curved ceilings over seating
and passageways continue the dining car feel. The original irreparable reefer is now used for dry storage,
and the larger kitchen and dining areas have extended into a former church that burned down.
Plymouth, New Hampshire has a vibrant historic downtown that includes a bandstand and fountains.
One fountain includes this statue of a Boy Scout. In warmer seasons his cupped hands overflow with water over a boulder into a pool for animals. Two other fountains are one either side of this statue.
But it is still cold here, with some streams still iced over their flowing waters.
It is odd to see footprints and animal tracks continue over thawed areas, but it makes for interesting hiking.
Glad you enjoyed your onion rings, Jim, I like them too, but not the eggs benidict. Sunny side up please. ;)
