Wild Thing.

Image
This man gave me the courage to perform for others. I'm certain the informal gathering and   natural setting of his remembrance pleased him.  He was fully domesticated when I met him, but there were many testifying to his untamed youth. Stories include a young Jim Henson repeatedly show up at his gigs madly sketching what would eventually inspire the Muppets' Animal. Several bear a passing resemblance to the character; he is the only one old enough to have inspired the Muppet, and in turn the young drummers that imitate him. As he watched over the wild surreal jam session that followed,  there were as many reminders of his domestic legacy.

Tower Hill Botanical Garden

Last week's Free Fun Friday  was spent at Tower Hill Botanical Garden . Started in 1986 by the Worcester County Horticultural Society it is a modern garden. The lawns with flower borders are enjoyed by everyone, while the nearby trees allow flowers to play with the sun. There are meadows and ponds and several photogenic structures. Requisite veggie gardens have some unusual specimens. Views of the Wachusett Reservoir   peek through the woods after a steep and craggy hike. The meadows have enough flora to divert attention and attract fauna.  Take your camera. You will see something worth remembering.
